Diary Marif: Activist, Exile, and Advocate for Kurdish Rights Meet Diary Marif, an activist in exile from Iraqi Kurdistan, now residing in Vancouver, Canada. Born during the Iran-Iraq war, Diary grew up amid conflict and witnessed the devastating effects of the Anfal Genocide and chemical attacks on Halabja.

After moving to Canada in 2017, he channeled his experiences into his writing and activism. Diary writes for numerous national and international platforms including New Canadian Media, Toronto Star, and Washington Institution, focusing on issues affecting Kurdish people, minorities, and newcomers in Canada. Despite cultural and political challenges, Diary has remained committed to his cause, often participating in rallies and public speaking events to raise awareness. His activism extends to fighting against racism and advocating for the rights of all marginalized groups.

Diary has written creative works and fictional pieces that convey the ordeals faced by the Kurdish people and continues to educate Canadian audiences about these critical issues. In 2024, Diary achieved significant recognition, obtaining multiple certifications and becoming a board member of an organization dedicated to combating racism. Through his relentless efforts, Diary strives to share the stories of Kurdish people and others facing displacement and discrimination, working tirelessly for justice and human rights.
